A review of Tony Guhr’s actual resume or Curriculum Vitae (“course of life” / Latin) would suggest it would likely not help land him a job with a typical employer. He has worked in a number of different jobs in various industries ranging from construction to convention management to manufacturing to international trade. A number of these jobs were long-term consulting contracts which were conducted simultaneously. A few of the jobs were traditional employment situations, though not very many! A dozen or so were businesses he owned and started from scratch. Some of his business developments included…
Cattle conditioning company, processing 10,000 head of cattle each year
Nationwide commercial roofing business with regional and national accounts
Equipment and automated process to convert large volumes of animal manures to premium compost materials
Lease Finance company designed to finance/lease large commercial roof construction projects
Processing hospital medical waste and body parts to avoid on-site incineration or disposal in landfills
Gifts-In-Kind Management program for Nonprofit Organization fundraising
Reclamation and Remanufacturing of carbon fiber scrap from the Aerospace and Auto Mfg. industry
Even so, his life has been most challenging and rewarding; and he has declared he would not alter very much if given another go at it.
He has visited over 50 state and federal prisons across the country. Over the years, he has greatly enjoyed visiting with some 30 Native American tribes across the USA to develop industry and employment at each tribal nation location. In his work, he attended Sunday services in over 500 churches in 5 nations.
With all of the challenges and excitement involved in presentations to investment firms on Wall Street for project funding, to introductions of emerging technologies, to product fabricators and manufacturers, he actually has some preference for the physical labor of baling hay or felling trees in the forest along the river at the farm. He does have a passion for taking on the complex problems of conflicts in relationships, politics, or industry. He has worked to understand the underlying causes and the development of the very best optimized solutions. His greatest joy and ongoing occupation is to propose and persuade any two conflicted parties to fully embrace a win-win solution.
One of his sources of joy is introducing new skills and ways of thinking to youth in which they can quickly see the possibilities of doing something seemingly challenging or even impossible, with the outcome being a new confidence and good sense of accomplishment.
